Conference 2017

Annual conference 2017: ‘Changing tides’

Reading Museum, Reading Town Hall, The University of Reading and The Museum of English Rural Life

29th and 30th June 2017

2016 has been a monumental year for the world as a whole and the effects of its events on museums are likely to be wide-ranging in their consequences. The vote for Brexit and the moves to both the left and the right of the political spectrum across the world will all have a significant effect on visitors, museums and how we adapt to stay relevant in the future.

This year's annual conference will be held in Reading and we're delighted to welcome Tony Butler and Heledd Fychan to give keynote speeches, and to feature a programme of interesting case studies which showcase the great work of museums and organisations across the UK.

The Programme

You can download the full programme below - which includes a tour of The Museum of English Rural Life, evening drinks reception, interactive workshops and an opportunity to look around Reading Museum. For those that want to extend their stay we will also be going on an optional walking tour of Reading on the Saturday morning.

Accommodation will be in the Bridges Townhouses at the University of Reading and the evening meal will be at Sweeney and Todd, Reading.
