Turf walled houses of the Central Highlands
An experiment in reconstruction

Notes:
The following account of the reconstruction of a ‘turf house’ at the Highland Folk Museum in Kingussie must be regarded as an interim report. As will become clear, the experiment is still in progress, and the conclusions being drawn at this stage may bear little resemblance to the final results. However, since this will be, by its very nature, a long-term project, and one which can only be carried out in stages as money and available manpower allow, it appears sensible to record impressions at the end of the first phase.
