This booklet covers the materials and processes used to produce early books including sections on wood, leather, skin, parchment and vellum, and descriptions of different binding techniques. It is well-illustrated with original images and diagrams, has an extremely useful section on terminology with accompanying labelled diagrams, and a good bibliography. It covers the period from c.800 CE to 1420 CE.
