The museum collections tell the story of a stamp's life from when it was designed and printed; subsequently used in postal services and by people; then how it changed into a collectable item which is displayed at exhibitions and local societies.

There are also archives of people's research, records relating to philatelic sociecties, clubs and exhibitions in the UK and abroad, the Perkins Bacon records (printers of the Penny Black), and world-class philatelic collections.
