Guidance for Identifying, Assessing and Recording Sewing Machines and Typewriters
Resource verified by SHCG editorial group
Date(s): 2011
Notes:
The object of this guide is to create an informative record by exploring the essential elements that make up a useful object description. Usually, it is the general ‘object description’ field that most curators will read, so let’s take a look at what this might contain, and how best we can achieve it, for
an object from each of two of our categories – sewing machines and typewriters. This is also a useful guide to identifying some of the sewing machines and typewriters that may appear in museum collections.
