Notes:
This film by Sam Hanna looks at the work of a saddler's workshop in Darwen, Lancashire. Shots of the busy road running outside the workshop are followed by footage of four of the workers, including a young female apprentice, undertaking different tasks inside. A bridle, some stitching threads and padding, a halter, a plume and a saddle are shown being made or assembled in the workshop as the narrator extols the virtues of the craftsmanship. The film ends with a harness and the saddle being fitted to a draught horse, which is in turn hitched to a bright red cart in preparation for a local carnival.
