Book

Potions and notions: traditional remedies from far and wide

Resource verified by SHCG editorial group

Publisher: Corridor Press 1998

ISBN: 978-1897715406

Notes:

The book was produced by a core group of volunteers, supported by two part-time paid workers, who were involved in all key decisions from the first workshop when the topic of the book was chosen. They decided on the approach, contents, format, print run, publishing schedule, cover, and layout of the book. Training workshops were run to enable volunteers to tackle story-gathering, writing, editing, marketing and selling. Some of the group attended a series of workshops in book lay-out and design to enable them to help in producing the book in-house on screen. Other volunteers used specific skills for illustration, photography, typesetting and proof-reading. Volunteers were also involved in marketing, publicising and selling the books to family and friends and distributing it to local bookshops.
