Cleveland Ironestone Mining Museum

Resource verified by SHCG editorial group

Notes:

This museum is very locally based but it gives a good overview of the subject. The museum offers visitors the opportunity to experience the underground world of a real ironstone mine and to explore the skills, customs and life of the Cleveland miner. It was those miners that helped to make Cleveland the most important ironstone mining district in Victorian and Edwardian Britain.
