Call for articles - SHCG Journal 2017, LBGTQ History

Have you undertaken an interesting project, collecting initiative or developed innovative displays related to LGBTQ (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer) history?

Articles are now being sought for the next issue of Social History in Museums, the SHCG journal, to be published in Spring 2017. The theme of this issue will have an LGBTQ focus to coincide with the fiftieth anniversary of the passing of the Sexual Offences Act on 27th July 1967. This legislation (partially) decriminalised homosexuality in England and Wales and represents an important milestone in campaigns for equality. This edition of the journal will be guest edited by Stuart Frost, Head of Interpretation & Volunteers at The British Museum.

A 250 word abstract should be submitted by Friday 16th September 2016. Final articles should be between 2,000 and 4,000 words, and the deadline for submission is Friday 7th October 2016.

There will be a peer review process for submitted articles. Experienced sector professionals will read and comment on articles, and authors will have an opportunity to amend their articles in view of the reviewers' comments.

Please contact the Editor using the details below if you would like any further information or intend to submit an article.
