Call for submissions for SHCG News

Every year the Social History Curators Group publishes two copies of its newsletter. These are filled with interesting articles, stories, and examples of best practice from across the sector. We are always keen to hear about what you have been up to in the field of social history. The News aims to act as a channel for the exchange of information and opinions about current practice and theory in museums.

We welcome a wide variety of articles relating to social history and museums. These could include project write ups, book reviews, objects in focus or discussions at seminars and conferences.

Back copies of the News can be found on the SHCG website if you’d like inspiration or further guidance on the type of content we publish.

The suggested word count for submissions is:

Bulletin Board 100-300 words

Theory and Practice 900-1000 words

Reviews and Object Focus 400-500 words or 900-1000 words.

We also ask that, where possible and appropriate, contributors link their article to 2-3 firstBASE resources that they have used within their research or project.

Please submit your article and accompanying images by email, saved as a Word file (Arial 12 point).  Images must be a high resolution and have clear credit lines.

Deadline for next issue – Monday 12 April 2021

Please send all contributions to:
