firstBASE research contract

Thanks to funding support from MDA, the Social History Curators Group is able to commission some freelance research and development work for its firstBASE database.

The freelance researcher would be required to undertake the following work:
• review existing data on the firstBASE database
• input a body of new information onto the database
• locate and prepare for web publication material from the SHCG archive
• assist with SHCG’s officers and the firstBASE Editorial Team in developing the Group’s website content
It is anticipated that the work would involve some travel to meetings at museums as appropriate and to attend occasional firstBASE editorial group meetings. The work must be completed by the end of September 2008.

A fee of £3,000 is available for this work.

The successful candidate would need to be a confident user of MS Access, and have a good understanding of the social history museum landscape.
